Abstract



 

Since 2005, CES has organized an Annual series of Conferences presenting national and international research produced by young scientists in the field of social sciences. This was set off by the centre’s goal of promoting dialogue with work produced within other institutions, based on a clearly interdisciplinary matrix. So far, we have counted on the contribution of some of the most prominent young social scientist from or working in Portugal, as well as others actors and knowledge, since people of other academic institutions, other academic areas and several civil society organizations have participated in these conferences.

Bringing forth researchers from other schools working upon varied scientific areas (Sociology, Anthropology, History, Economics, International Relations, Literary Studies, Education, Law, African Studies, Political Sciences and Philosophy), CES has thus sought to contribute towards the exchange of experiences and towards the discussion of their research results. The selection of the speakers for each cycle falls upon the excellence of the work they have come to develop in their pertaining institutions and their internationalization within the field of social and human sciences. In each conference, debate has been promoted through commentary of CES researchers and students from post-graduate programmes.

The conferences taken place so far have evolved around diverse themes: art and citizenship, discrimination, electoral processes, corruption, immigration law, monetary policy, verbal interaction, student movements, territorial planning, social policies, labour and family, participatory democracy, innovation models, water policies, Portuguese popular culture and theatre.

Na XI edição queremos privilegiar o debate entre os JCS e investigadores/as mais experientes. Nesse sentido, na parte da manhã haverá duas intervenções por JCS, seguidas do comentário por investigadores/as do CES e, da parte da tarde, contaremos com a participação de Elsa Lechner que, após uma breve exposição sobre os potenciais e limites da pesquisa colaborativa, permitirá criar um diálogo com as intervenções dos JCS e fomentar um debate com todos/as os/as intervenientes desta edição e com o público.

Abstracts

Problematising post-memory 
Ana Quintais

Ao escolher a teoria da pós-memória postulada por Marianne Hirsch como ferramenta de análise dos trabalhos do artista visual Daniel Blaufuks, deparei-me com um conjunto de questões de ordem ética e epistemológica. Não só pelo próprio conceito de pós-memória, que tem suscitado diversas críticas – muitas delas sustentadas pelo facto deste ser um conceito relativamente recente e, por isso, algo sub-teorizado, como pela questão problemática da utilização e produção de imagens referentes ao genocídio. Blaufuks, descendente de sobreviventes do Holocausto realiza um trabalho em torno de imagens contextualizadas pela sua herança familiar, construindo todo um universo visual que faz apelo à memória destes eventos. Pretende-se, pois, refletir sobre os aspectos éticos e metodológicos que o conceito de pós-memória suscita e de que forma o trabalho visual de Daniel Blaufuks pode contribuir para perspectivar o papel da imagem no que se refere a eventos colectivamente traumáticos.

Esta apresentação serve essencialmente para pensar a interdependência entre os quadros teóricos, que nos permitem problematizar e construir o objeto de investigação, e os objetos empíricos, o chamado “tema” da tese. É quase sempre este “tema” - o futebol, as migrações, o racismo, etc, - ou em alternativa o método ou o terreno - a etnografia, a história oral, o arquivo - que muitas vezes definem o nosso trabalho e o nosso posicionamento no interior da disciplina. Gostaria, todavia, de defender, a partir do meu próprio percurso de investigação, que é apenas no quadro de uma problematização sólida, orientada para a resolução de problemas teóricos, mas inextricavelmente orientado para o objeto empírico que é possível desenvolver investigação sólida e capaz de fazer avançar a disciplina.

Notas Biográficas

Ana Quintais é licenciada em Psicologia Clínica com Mestrado em Psicologia Pedagógica pela Faculdade de Psicologia e Ciências da Educação da Universidade de Coimbra. Em Julho de 2015 concluiu o Doutoramento em Linguagens e Heterodoxias: História, Poética e Práticas Sociais, ramo de Estudos Anglo-americanos, pela Faculdade de Letras e Centro de Estudos Sociais da Universidade de Coimbra. A tese aprovada com distinção e louvor e intitulada A escrita dobra a imagem. Daniel Blaufuks e a construção da pós-memória aborda o trabalho do artista visual português a partir da perspectiva teórica da pós-memória e da influência da literatura na sua obra artística. Enquanto investigadora independente encontra-se atualmente a investigar as relações entre imagem e literatura.

Rahul Kumar, nascido em 1980, licenciou-se em sociologia na Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas (FCSH), da Universidade Nova de Lisboa UNL) e em 2014 obteve o doutoramento, também em sociologia, no Instituto de Ciências Sociais da Universidade de Lisboa. Atualmente é professor convidado da Escola Superior de Educação do Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal e investigador do Instituto de História Contemporânea da FCSH-UNL. Para além da história do desporto, tem investigado sobre questões relacionadas com o trabalho, as migrações, os media e os consumos culturais.

Elsa Lechner PhD in Social Anthropology at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (2003) she is Principal Investigator at Ces. Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Rutgers and Brown Universities, USA (2014/15), Co-coordinator of the Humanities, Migrations and Peace Studies Group at CES 2010-2014, and member of the Ces Permanent Scientific Committee (2010/14). FCT Post-doc Fellow at ICS and ISCTE (2003/2009). Her research focusses on identity processes in migrant contexts, migrant's suffering and resilience within emancipation processes, biographical research, intercultural dialogues, illegal migrations and the ethics of inclusion and participation. Invited researcher at EXPERICE (Paris 8/13), GRAPHO (UNEB/Salvador da Bahia). CA member for the International Association for Biographical Research, and coeditor of Le Sujet dans la Cité. Author of many national and international papers and books on biographical research for the study of migrations.
