Biography
I am an associate researcher at the Centre for Social Studies, University of Coimbra, having co-coordinated the Research Group on Democracy, Citizenship and Law at CES from 2018 to March 2021. Currently, I am a curricular unit coordinator and senior lecturer at the "Human Rights in contemporary societies" PhD Programme (CES/IIIUC) and guest lecturer at the "Democracy in the 21st Century" PhD Programme (CES/FEUC). With regard to research projects, I am, in Portugal, the PI of the project "BioTraCes - Biodiversity and Transformative Change for Plural and Nature-Positive Societies" (HORIZON-CL6-2022-BIODIV-01-09/Grant 101081923), headed by the Wageningen University (The Netherlands) and participate, as a team member, in 2 other international projects (EuroREGEN, FCT and TRANS-L, European Commission). I co-coordinated the Study Group on Solidarity Economy (ECOSOL-CES) from October 2019 to October 2023 and, since 2020, co-coordinate POLICREDOS, a working group intertwining gender, politics and religion. From 2016 to 2018, I was a Guest Associate Professor at the Federal University of Southern Bahia (Brazil). Holding a PhD in Communication and Culture from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2004) and a Master's Degree from the same institution (1999), I had a long academic career as professor at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ/Brazil). In 2008, I moved to Sociology, focusing on economic sociology. My main research and lecturing interests are: feminist economics, feminist aesthetics, postcolonial feminisms, postcolonial studies on consumption and Economics, poverty and social inequalities from an interseccional perspective, European identities and the Otherness. Among the relevant outputs from 2017 and 2024, it is worth stressing: 2 co-edited books by Routledge, 7 book chapters (1 to be published in 2024 by Elgar), 4 journal articles (one of them for the prestigious Journal of Rural Studies), and 2 entries, by invitation, for the UNRISD Encyclopedia of Social and Solidarity Economy, edited by Edward Elgar.
