Ana Mafalda Rodrigues
Biography
Ana Mafalda Rodrigues (b. Coimbra, 1977) is a member of the OSIRIS Observatory of the Centre for Social Studies (CES), as a PhD student in "Territory, Risk and Public Policies", an inter-university PhD programme offered jointly by the CES and the Interdisciplinary Research Institute of the University of Coimbra, the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning and the Centre for Geographical Studies of the University of Lisbon, and the University of Aveiro. She graduated in Architecture (2002) from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra, and was an intern for the Order of Architects at the João Mendes Ribeiro studio. Master in "Architecture, Territory and Memory" (2007) by the same university, with a dissertation in the field of Territorial Planning - "Urban regulation and form of the new urban expansion: the case of Évora" (under the guidance of Álvaro Domingues and co-supervision of José António Bandeirinha). Awarded by Fundação da Juventude (Portugal) with the scholarship "City and Democracy - 25 years later" (2003), to study the urban dynamics of the city of Évora. Scholarship awarded by the Fundação da Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT), she develops her PhD thesis at CES, under the title "Models of housing and social production in a post-colonial context: the case of the Casa para Todos Program in Cape Verde". She analyses housing models and level of urban insertion, evaluating their adequacy and user satisfaction, considers the coherence and contextual relevance, the effectiveness and efficiency of the policy instrument in the mitigation of vulnerability and social risk, and makes a reading of the phenomenon of policy transfer and learning. She specialized in Post-Occupation Evaluation (POE) at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo, Brazil (2017). Her research focuses on the themes: right to housing and right to the city; housing policies and models of social interest; evaluation of public policies; policy transfer; and post-occupation evaluation (POE) of the built environment. She is currently a consultant in the evaluation of municipal public housing policies.
