Abstract
The course aims to deepen the methodological skills for scientific research.
Programme:
04/11 - Actors and stages of research. The research project. Typology of scientific researches.
05/11- Quantitative and qualitative methods. Approach and integration strategies.
06/11- Data collection techniques. Individual and group interviews. Theoretical and operational aspects.
11/11- Data collection techniques. Direct observation and participant observation. Historical, theoretical and operational aspects.
12/11- Data collection techniques. Survey questionnaires. Historical, theoretical and operational aspects.
The course is limited to 15 participants, first-come first served basis.
Certificates of participation will only be issued to participants attending a minimum of 4 sessions.
Bio note
Mauro Serapioni is researcher at the Centre for Social Studies (CES, Associated Laboratory) of the University of Coimbra and member of the Research Group on Social Policy, Labor and Inequalities (POSTRADE). Mauro Serapioni lectures in the followings PhD Programmes: Democracy in the 21st Century (CES-FEUC); Governance, Knowledege and Innovations (CES-FEUC) and in the international PhD program in Human Rights, Global Health and Politics of Life (CES-FIOCRUZ). In March 2014 Mauro Serapioni was accredted as Contrcted Professor with PhD by the assessment program of the National Agency of Evaluación of Quality and Accreditation (ANECA) of Spain. He was previously Director of the Specialization Course on "Health Local System Managers" at the School of Public Health of Ceará (Brazil), Visiting Fellow at the University of Bologna, Professor at the State University of Ceará, Consultant for the Pan-American Health Organization and for the Brasilian Ministry of Health, Lecturer at the University of Bologna and at the University of Modena/Reggio Emilia.
Graduated in Political and Social Science at the University of Bologna, Master in Health Management at the Istituto Superiore di Sanitá (Rome) and PhD in Sociology from the University of Barcelona.
Areas of interest: Sociology of health; Governance and citizen's participation, Volunteering and Participation; Social Inequalities and Health, Evaluation of health services and social policy. Research methods. Author of several articles on these topics.
