About
Based on the theme "Feminist Arts of Words", the XI edition of the Gender Workshop Series proposes a series of monthly talks, around feminist, gender and colonial issues, with authors and other curators of the arts of words. Closing this series, Maria Giulia Pinheiro will give a feminist writing workshop.
Nota biográfica
Maria Giulia Pinheiro was born in São Paulo, Brazil. She is a poet, performer, screenwriter, researcher and activist. In poetry, she published the works Da Poeta ao Inevitável (2013), Alteridade (2016), Avessamento (2017) and 30 para 30. As a playwright, she authored the plays Mais um Hamlet, Alteridade, Bruta Flor do Querer and A Palavra Mais Bonita - the last two under her direction. Maria Giulia is also founder of the theatre group Companhia e Fúria; creator and organiser of the soirée ZONA Lê Mulheres, in Brazil, and of the slam poetry Todo Mundo Slam, in Portugal. In Lisbon, she is co-idealizer and presenter of the slam Ciranda-Jogo de Palavra Falada and Ginginha Poética. In 2020, she placed 4th in the Poetry Slam World Cup, in France, representing Portugal. Since 2012 she has been researching the tradition of women in art, the importance of a feminist imaginary and free community structures. She has been coordinator of the Feminist Dramaturgy Group at Teatro Pequeno Ato, in São Paulo, since 2016, and teaches feminist writing classes, such as the one that will take place in this workshop, based on the study of famous women authors.
