About
This roundtable, under the Chatam House Rule, aims to debate the political factors underlying the commitment of the Portuguese Armed Forces in the context of international missions, in close articulation with the definition of national interest, as well as the main strategic axes of Portuguese foreign policy. This session aims to address the main objectives underlying the Portuguese participation in international missions, as well as how the priorities for action in this dimension have been managed, according to the articulation of Portuguese needs and capabilities in the area of defence and security.
This roundtable is organised in the framework of FEUC's Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, coordinated by Maria Raquel Freire, in collaboration with the Centre for Social Studies, following the activities of the project "The Geopolitics of National Detached Forces: analysis of the political factors underpinning Portugal's participation in international missions", coordinated by Vanda Amaro Dias and funded by the Ministry of National Defence.
