About

Over the last decades, films, literature, news, textbooks, among other media, have shaped our perceptions about "us" and the "others", often contributing to the reinforcement of stereotypes and prejudices among the most diverse human groups, but also to the questioning of existing discourses and the construction of new canons.

Decolonial narratives question the subject, language, literary and cultural analysis, conceptualising them. These counter-narratives appear committed to critique, exposure, deconstruction, counter-hegemony, and the transcendence of the presences and cultural and ideological legacies of imperialism, putting images and narratives under scrutiny.

The Intercultural Communication and Visual Culture Working Groups of SOPCOM invite you to a critical and counter-hegemonic debate, which aims to contribute to the deconstruction of images and narratives.
