In recent years, social and solidarity economy organisations have suffered the double impact of a prolonged economic and financial crisis and changes in legal frameworks and instruments of action. Beyond conceptual definitions, this way of thinking and building social and economic organisation embodies common principles and values and objectives of sustainability. Endowed with an already extensive history and playing an important role, contradictions notwithstanding, social and solidarity economy organisations face challenges today that should be discussed. Le Monde diplomatique - Portuguese edition and the cooperative that publishes it - Outro Modo, with the support of CRISALT, and through this colloquium, aim at contributing to this ongoing reflection.
