Room 1, CES-Alta

About

Solidarity Economy is one of the vigorous social movements that have developed in Brazil, especially in the last two decades, and which has been an innovative impulse for social emancipation, for the construction of a non-state public space and for the democratisation of the economy in this country. The seminar aims to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of this social movement in a period of socio-political retreat and its role of resistance in defending democracy and rights won. It is part of a broader series of debates promoted by CES and Casa de Esquina, intituled Debating Brazil, to discuss not only the human rights situation in Brazil but also the expansion of the far right in Europe, in a comparative perspective.
