The Gender Workshop's Feminist Talks aim to showcase the work of the guest speakers in the field of gender equality and in favour of women. In this session, we'll learn about the work of Rita Serra, interviewed by Lucie Fortuin, particularly on women and autism, among other topics.

Bio notes

Rita Serra (applied biologist, PhD) is a permanent researcher at the Centre for Social Studies (Research Group Risk(s), Ecologies, Health). She has studied various environmental and health issues using participatory and community-based approaches. She is currently focused on autism, mental health and well-being, coordinating the AUTICORPOS 2.0 project: improving the mental health and well-being of autistic people, led by APVA and co-funded by INR, I.P. during 2024. She developed the pilot peer mentoring programme “I'm autistic, now what?” implemented by APVA. She is autistic and picks mushrooms and wild foods that she consumes, and writes for cultural newspapers (Revista Osso) and broadsheet newspapers (Público).

Lucie Fortuin is an author and researcher with a specific interest in anti-hegemonic writing practices and “crip authorship.” She received her MA in Critical Studies from the Sandberg Institute, Amsterdam, and is a PhD candidate in Feminist Studies at CES, Coimbra. Her work has been
