Since 1998, over
five thousand people have died in Rio de Janeiro, victims of police
interventions, most of them young, poor and black males. The
documentary "A mother like me…", produced within the Project “Invisible
Faces”, gives notice of the invisible faces regarding armed violence in
Rio de Janeiro, focusing on the stories of mothers, sisters and wives
that have lost their relatives in acts of urban violence and who are
now struggling against impunity and forgetfulness. The documentary shall be presented by the Marquês de Valle Flôr Institute, the Peace Studies Research Group of the University of Coimbra and Cinema Nosso, partners in the “Invisble Faces” Project.
